Recommended Reading

Anatomy of the Spirit: The Seven Stages of Power and Healing, by Caroline Myss, Ph.D.
A highly accessible discussion of the chakra system, and how each chakra's state of health affects us in our daily lives.

Traditional Reiki for Our Times: Practical Methods for Personal and Planetary Healing, by Amy Z. Rowland.
An excellent Reiki primer, with good photographs and illustrations, as well as a thoughtful discussion of what Reiki is and how to practice this gentle healing art in a loving and giving manner.

Essential Reiki: A Complete Guide to an Ancient Healing Art, by Diane Stein.
One of the basic texts for Reiki, and one of the few that includes not only the hand positions, but also the Reiki symbols.

The Alchemist, by Paolo Coelho.
Simply a beautiful book that resonates strongly with how I am experiencing life these days. It's a quick read - give yourself a gift and read it!

The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment, by Eckhart Tolle.
How to gain a different perspective. A quick read, but challenging, too! I would suggest reading this somewhat selectively; I found that I took some concepts to heart, and rejected others as not right for me.

Reiki News Magazine
Always chock-full of interesting articles about Reiki, healing, and living.

Important Note:
Reading a Reiki text does not take the place of receiving proper training! It is important for both the client and the Reiki practitioner for there to be proper training in place. Otherwise, it could be an unhealthy experience for either party.
